Job summary

South Shore Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Rockland, MA is hiring a full-time Activities Assistant to join our recreation team. You will help plan, organize, and direct the daily events and programming for residents, including arts & crafts, performances, and other activities.

We offer weekly pay at $16 per hour with a schedule of 8:30a to 4:30p and an every other weekend rotation. No prior experience is required; we can train the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Willingness to learn and train for activities programming.

Responsibilities

• Help coordinate and run events and activities programming.
• Build relationships with residents and tailor programming to interests.
• Organize group and individual programming.
• Generate ideas to engage residents in activities.
• Encourage participation to stimulate physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being.
• Assist with resident care goals within the therapeutic team.
• Document and report unusual findings.
• Report all reportable events immediately.

We are hiring a full-time Activities Assistant to join our creative and passionate recreation team at South Shore Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Rockland!

Weekly pay at $16 an hour. 8:30a to 4:30p and includes an every other weekend rotation.

As an Activities Assistant, you assist the department in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the daily events and programming for residents, including arts & crafts, performances, and other activities.

Experience & Education:

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• As a minimum, one (1) year experience in an Activities Department in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical facility is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Help coordinate and run events and activities programming.
• Build relationships with residents and learn about their interests to tailor programming to their desires.
• Organize group and individual programming.
• Generate ideas that will excite and encourage residents to participate in programming.
• Encourage residents to take part in activities that will stimulate his/her potential, physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.
• Assist with and follow through on the establishment of resident care goals within the framework of the entire therapeutic team.
• Document and report any unusual or significant findings.
• Report all reportable events immediately.

Specific Requirements:

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
• Must be knowledgeable in the Privacy Rule and ensure all staff comply with facility privacy practices policies and procedures.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
• Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing policies and procedures.
• Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
• Must participate in continuing education and inservice training.
