Deer Park Health and Rehab in Nebo, NC is seeking a dependable activities assistant to make a meaningful impact on residents. You will help plan and lead daily activities and collaborate with staff to foster a caring, engaging environment.

Responsibilities include creating monthly calendars, coordinating materials, and supporting events while ensuring safety and companionship for residents. Previous senior-care exposure is preferred and CPR/First Aid is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in activities, recreation, or working with seniors preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative, energetic, and compassionate personality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be physically able to assist residents and set up activity areas.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Activities Assistant Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and delivery of daily group and individual activities tailored to residents’ needs and interests

  • Help create monthly activity calendars and prepare materials and supplies for scheduled programs

  • Encourage resident participation and provide companionship during activities and leisure time

  • Transport and assist residents to and from activity areas in a safe and respectful manner

  • Maintain attendance records and document resident participation

  • Support special events, holiday celebrations, and outings

  • Assist with setup and cleanup of activity areas

  • Collaborate with nursing staff, volunteers, and family members to ensure a well-rounded program

  • Uphold a positive and respectful environment for all residents

Activities Assistant Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Previous experience in activities, recreation, or working with seniors preferred

Preferred Skills:

Schedule & Compensation:
  • Part-time position two days a week, 12p-8p (flexible on the weekends)

  • Competitive hourly wage based on experience
