Job summary

Polaris Healthcare in New York seeks a compassionate Activities Assistant to enrich the lives of our senior residents. You will work with the Activities Director to create meaningful, engaging programs and ensure resident well-being through varied activities.

The schedule is Tuesday–Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with a pay range of $16.50–$18.00 per hour. This role emphasizes teamwork, compassion, and community involvement within a friendly facility.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm for working with seniors.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn facility software.
• Experience in activities, recreation, healthcare, or senior living preferred but not required.
• Must be able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing a monthly activity calendar with diverse programs.
• Conduct resident surveys to identify interests and gather ideas.
• Collect and evaluate feedback to improve programming.
• Assist with training and coordinating activity volunteers and participants.
• Escort and supervise residents during outings and events.
• Develop inclusive activities for residents of varying abilities.
• Promote and advertise upcoming events throughout the facility.
• Coordinate transportation arrangements for outings and events.
• Assist with decorating the facility for holidays and special occasions.
• Maintain activity records and documentation as required.
• Follow all facility policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

Position Summary

The Activities Assistant works closely with the Activities Director to develop, coordinate, and implement engaging programs that enhance the physical, social, emotional, educational, and spiritual well-being of our residents. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with older adults and creating fun, meaningful opportunities for engagement.

• Assist in planning and implementing a monthly activity calendar that includes physical, social, educational, entertainment, religious, and resident-requested programs.
• Conduct resident surveys to identify interests and gather ideas for future activities.
• Collect and evaluate feedback from residents and participants to improve programming.
• Assist with training and coordinating activity volunteers and event participants.
• Escort and supervise residents during community outings and special events.
• Develop inclusive activities that encourage participation from residents of varying abilities.
• Promote and advertise upcoming events and activities throughout the facility.
• Coordinate transportation arrangements for resident outings and events.
• Assist with decorating the facility for holidays, seasonal celebrations, and special occasions.
• Maintain activity records and documentation as required.
• Follow all facility policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Management Team.
