Job summary

Evergreen Healthcare Group is seeking an Activities Assistant for Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD. The role focuses on engaging residents with group activities, building rapport, and providing compassionate, person-centered care in the evening hours.

You will work with a supportive team to implement programs and ensure a safe, welcoming environment. The position involves one-to-one visits, coordinating with nursing staff, and light housekeeping in activity areas to help residents

Qualifications

• Experience working with the elderly is preferred.
• Strong communication and listening skills are essential.
• Ability to collaborate with care teams and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Implement group programming to promote resident interaction.
• Notify residents and staff about activity schedules.
• Conduct one-to-one visits to provide companionship, stimulation and orientation per activity plans.
• Coordinate with nursing staff to assist in transporting residents to activities and perform light housekeeping in activity areas.

Job Summary:

Essential Functions:

• Implement group programming that promotes interaction between residents.
• Notifies residents and staff of activity schedules.
• Visits with residents on a one-to-one basis as directed by the Activities Director in order to provide:
  • A friendly visitor.
  • Sensory stimulation.
  • Reality orientation.
  • A means of meeting individual needs as outlined in each resident's Activity Plan.
• Selects residents and communicates with nursing personnel for purpose of assistance in transporting residents to and from general activity areas.
• Responsible for general housekeeping duties in Activity areas
