Job summary

Vernon Health and Living in Wabash, IN is seeking an energetic Activity Aide to bring joy, purpose, and connection to residents daily. You will plan and lead group activities, support events, and build meaningful relationships with residents who call our facility home.

The role requires a warm, patient, and enthusiastic personality with the ability to engage a room and adapt activities for memory care needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience working with elderly or memory care populations preferred — will train the right person.
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or must obtain within 30 days.
• Ability to work weekdays and rotating weekends.
• Activity professional certification a plus — not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist with group activities including arts and crafts, music, games, and exercise programs.
• Provide one-on-one activities for residents who cannot attend group programs.
• Adapt activities for residents with dementia, memory impairment, or physical limitations.
• Set up, facilitate, and clean up activity spaces before and after each program.
• Assist with special events, holiday celebrations, and themed dining programs.
• Decorate the facility for seasons and holidays to create a warm environment.
• Document resident participation accurately in the activity record.
• Escort and assist residents to and from activity programs safely.
• Support volunteers and community visitors during programs.
• Report any resident behavioral changes or concerns to the nurse.
