Job summary

Berkshire Medical Center in Massachusetts is seeking an Activities Aide to support social, recreational and therapeutic programs for residents. This part-time role requires 20+ hours weekly and every other weekend, with training provided.

Experience in activities and ability to work independently are preferred in a healthcare setting. You will assist in planning and evaluating activities, transport residents to events, and collaborate with staff to enhance daily living and overall resident

Qualifications

• High school education required.
• Experience in activities or related field preferred.
• Prior experience in healthcare or with residents beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate activity programs.
• Observe resident attendance, behavior, and involvement.
• Encourage resident participation.
• Transport residents to activities as needed.
• Assist with discharge planning and activity care plans.
• Coordinate activities with other departments and staff.
• Maintain quality assurance for the activity department.
• Perform administrative duties (forms, reports).

Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs, in accordance with resident’s care plan.

Meal support in the evening is needed. This position operates in a healthcare setting. This role also routinely comes into contact with residents who have contagious diseases.

Essential Job Functions:

• Observe resident attendance, behavior, and degree of involvement during programs.
• Encourage resident participation as deemed appropriate.
• Transport residents to and from activities as needed.
• Participate in discharge planning, development, and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments.
• Interview residents or family members to obtain activity information.
• Assist in arranging for transportation for outings.
• Coordinate activities with other departments and staff.
• Assist with implementing and maintaining an ongoing quality assurance program for the activity department.
• Perform administrative duties, i.e. completing necessary forms, reports, etc.
