Job summary

Greenville Care Center is seeking an Activities Aide to plan, organize, and implement recreational and therapeutic activities for residents in a long-term care setting. You will work closely with the Activities Director to tailor programs to each resident's needs, interests, and abilities.

You will lead group activities, encourage participation, and ensure safety and well-being while documenting attendance and preferences.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a caring attitude toward older adults.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm in developing and leading engaging activities.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and organizing daily, weekly, and monthly activity schedules.
  • Lead and oversee group activities such as games, arts/crafts, music, and exercise sessions.
  • Encourage resident participation and engage individuals to promote involvement.
  • Adapt activities for residents with varying mobility or cognitive abilities.
  • Monitor resident safety and well-being during activities.
  • Document attendance, preferences, and participation levels per facility policies.
  • Set up and clean activity spaces and coordinate with volunteers or staff for events.
  • Support special events like holidays, outings, or family nights.
  • Support education and growth opportunities for residents.

Job description

The Activities Aide is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and implementation of recreational and therapeutic activities for residents n a long-term care or assisted living facility. The goal is to enhance residents' quality of life through social, physical, emotional, and cognitive stimulation. The Activities Aide works closely with the Activities Director to ensure that each resident's individual needs and interests are met through a variety of fun, engaging, and meaningful activities.Key Responsibilities:Assist in Activity Planning:Help plan and organize daily, weekly, and monthly activity schedules that cater to the physical, mental, and social well-being of residents.Provide input on new and creative activities based on residents’ interests and abilities.Lead and Facilitate Activities:Assist in setting up, leading, and overseeing group activities such as games, arts and crafts, music sessions, exercise programs, and special events.Encourage resident participation in activities and engage with them individually to promote involvement.Adapt activities to suit residents with different levels of mobility, cognitive abilities, and personal preferences.Resident Interaction:Build relationships with residents, showing care and compassion while supporting their emotional and social needs.Monitor residents during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.Provide feedback to the Activities Director regarding resident participation, behavior, and any notable changes in mood or health.Documentation:Assist with documenting resident attendance, preferences, and participation levels in various activities.Help maintain accurate records of resident involvement in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.Set-Up and Clean-Up:Prepare activity rooms or spaces by arranging furniture, gathering necessary supplies, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.Clean up after activities, ensuring the area is restored to its original condition.Special Event Support:Assist in organizing and running special events such as holiday celebrations, outings, or family nights.Help coordinate with volunteers, family members, and other staff to ensure successful events.Education: High school diploma or equivalent.Experience: Previous experience in activities coordination, recreation, or working with the elderly in a healthcare or community setting is preferred but not required.Skills:Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Patience, empathy, and a caring attitude toward older adults.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Creativity and enthusiasm in developing and leading engaging activities.Basic computer skills for documentation purposes.People-Centered Rewards:Health benefits including Medical, Dental & Vision401k with company matchEarly Pay via Tapcheck!Employee Perks & Discount programPTO + Company Holidays + Floating HolidaysReferral Bonus ProgramMentorship ProgramsInternal/Upskilling Growth OpportunitiesTuition Reimbursement Program (Coming Fall 2025)
