The Gateway Region YMCA is seeking a motivated individual for their Active Older Adult Program Director position.

Job Description

The Gateway Region YMCA is a leading nonprofit organization in the St. Louis area, focusing on nurturing potential, improving health and well-being, and supporting communities. With over 170 years of history, the Y aims to build healthy spirits, minds, and bodies for all, serving more than 260,000 individuals annually through various branches and programs.

This role supports the Y’s mission by driving engagement among older adults through developing strategies, coordinating events, monitoring data, and building community partnerships. The primary goal is to increase social connections for older adults.

Qualifications
  • Ability to motivate and empower a diverse client base to adopt healthy lifestyles
  • Preferred: College degree in Health Education, Health Science, Exercise Science, or related field
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Experience facilitating group exercise for older adults is highly preferred
  • Experience in health and wellness programming is preferred
  • Experience coordinating large events or activities is preferred
  • Reliable transportation to travel across the Greater St. Louis region
  • Relevant program certifications (e.g., YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coach, Healthy Heart Ambassador) are required within 30 days of employment or at first training

Essential Functions
  • Collaborate on Active Older Adult programming, developing engagement and recruitment strategies
  • Work with marketing to share impact stories
  • Use data platforms to track and report outcomes
  • Implement member engagement and retention strategies
  • Build partnerships with community organizations aligned with AOA interests
  • Coordinate with the Community Health Team to promote chronic disease prevention programs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
