SUMMARY OF POSITION

This position manages and oversees the overall policies, objectives, and initiatives of an organization's revenue cycle activities to optimize the patient financial interaction along the care continuum. The Accounts Receivable Manager assists in managing outside vendors, partners with Finance and IT, oversees Claims Analysis, and implements best practices to maximize revenue, focusing on process, communication, and team effort.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Identify opportunities to optimize revenue collection through proper coding, encounter/claims submission, denials management, and payment reconciliation across the enterprise.
  2. Demonstrate strong knowledge of billing software, insurance claims, collections processes, and reimbursement procedures.
  3. Meet productivity and quality measurement requirements.
  4. Ensure compliance with workflows and processes as implemented by department leadership.
  5. Independently identify and communicate revenue improvement opportunities with the Accounts Receivable leadership team.
  6. Participate in developing coding and billing strategies, evaluating processes related to Revenue Cycle, and making recommendations while ensuring compliance with relevant rules or regulations (including HIPAA, Medicaid, Medicare, and third-party payors).
  7. Maintain relations with payers and providers to generate high reimbursement rates and low denial rates.
  8. Maintain professional relationships and collaborate across teams, managing projects, facilitating meetings, and presenting to various audiences, including senior leadership.
  9. Prepare and coordinate revenue cycle responsibilities within acquisition/implementation processes, including staff onboarding, vendor management, and clearinghouse management.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing and collections, preferably in dermatology.
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational experience required.
  • At least 3 years of remote work experience.
  • Understanding of healthcare management and patient accounts.
  • Experience with insurance denials and appeals.
  • Ability to educate patients on explanation of benefits for processed claims.
  • Effective communication with healthcare workers, patients, and insurance companies.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, positive attitude, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of state regulations.
  • Experience with EHR/PM systems like Modernizing Medicine/EMA is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and in a fast-paced environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate degree highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of related experience required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with systems like Intacct, ConnectWise, Ubersmith, and M&A is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
