Job summary

Dot Foods in Mt. Sterling, IL is hiring an Accounts Receivable Specialist to accurately process customer deductions and resolve discrepancies for timely funds collection. You will work with internal teams to settle discrepancies, post credits, and maintain general ledger entries.

The role requires basic accounting knowledge, Strong math, and solid communication skills. Schedule is Mon-Fri, 8am–5pm, with bonus opportunities and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer skills including ten-key, keyboarding, Excel and Word.
• Accurate mathematical skills.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree may be preferred.
• Knowledge of general accounting practices and AR processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Organize, review, research, and process deductions from Dot invoices.
• Collaborate with Customer Service and Outside Sales to resolve deductions.
• Collect unauthorized deductions and pursue payment with customers.
• Post credits and transactions to the general ledger.
• Follow standard work and work instructions.
• Apply lean thinking to identify waste in duties.

Job description

Location: Mt. Sterling, IL

Department: Accounts Receivable

Reports To: Accounts Receivable Supervisor

Hourly Wage: $16.53 - $23.55 per hour, plus bonus opportunity

As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently processing customer deductions and resolving discrepancies on a customer’s account to ensure customer satisfaction and the accurate collection of funds from the customer.

What You’ll Do

• Organize, review, research, and process deductions that customers have taken from a Dot invoice.
• Work with various internal departments, including Customer Service and Outside Sales to resolve and process deductions and supplier disputes.
• Collect unauthorized deductions and take responsibility for continuous contact as needed with customers to obtain payment.
• Perform general accounting activities including application of credits, posting to the general ledger, and other transactions.
• Follow and apply standard work and work instructions.
• Apply lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste in all areas of the position.

YOU MUST HAVE

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree
• Basic computer skills, including ten-key, keyboarding, Microsoft Excel and Word
• Accurate mathematical skills
• Professional written and verbal communication skills

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Knowledge of general accounting practices
• Experience in accounts receivable, billing, credit, or collections
• Strong multi-tasking skills
