Job summary

Honolulu Star-Advertiser is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team in Hawaii. You will process payments, maintain inventory records, prepare costing and gross profit reports, and input payables data using our computer systems.

The role requires at least 2 years AP experience, a degree in accounting or equivalent, and the ability to handle vendor communications, audits, and confidential data.

Qualifications

• A degree in accounting or equivalent experience is required.
• Minimum 2 years previous accounts payable experience is required.
• Requires use of computer, 10-key by touch.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs., twist and bend with flexibility.
• Must be able to work at a computer station for up to four hours at a time.

Responsibilities

• Process payment of all company bills.
• Maintain newsprint and ink inventory records.
• Prepare job costing using generally accepted costing procedures.
• Prepare a gross profit report.
• Input all payables data using the computer system and established procedures for updating inventory and costing reports.
• Prepare written correspondence with vendors.
• Reconcile all vendor statements monthly.
• Work on special projects as assigned.
• Maintain payables and inventory procedures and monitor data integrity via the Assistant Controller.
• Maintain internal control procedures.
• Meet all deadlines as assigned.
• Prepare for an audit at any time.
• Maintain confidentiality.
