Staffing Fish, LLC is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for the Phoenix metro East Valley, on-site, full-time, direct hire. The role owns full-cycle accounts payable, codes project invoices in Sage 300, and works with project managers and vendors across multiple active jobs.

Must have 3+ years of hands-on AP experience, Sage 300 and MS Excel proficiency, and construction or project-driven industry background.

Role: Accounts Payable Specialist
Industry: Commercial General Contractor | Construction
Location: Phoenix metro, East Valley, AZ | On-site | Full-time | Direct Hire
Salary: $60,000 - $72,000 + bonus
MUST CURRENTLY LIVE IN THE GREATER PHOENIX, AZ AREA TO BE CONSIDERED
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Position Overview

Our client is an established commercial general contractor in the Southeast Valley of the Phoenix metro, specializing in tenant improvement and ground-up construction. Under new ownership and in growth mode, with revenue projected to double over the next two years, the company is rebuilding its accounting team under a new controller. This seat owns full-cycle accounts payable in a high-volume environment, processing and coding project and vendor invoices in Sage 300 across a large portfolio of active jobs.

Responsibilities

• Own the full-cycle accounts payable process: receive, review, code, enter, and process a high volume of vendor and project invoices
• Code invoices to the correct job cost categories, cost codes, and general ledger accounts in Sage 300
• Verify approvals, purchase orders, and supporting documentation before processing
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, pricing issues, and vendor inquiries
• Maintain accurate vendor records and compliance documentation
• Prepare and process payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wires
• Perform account and subledger-to-GL reconciliations
• Support month-end close with accruals, aging, and AP reporting
• Provide documentation support for audits
• Work daily with project managers and vendors in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities across multiple active projects

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of hands-on full-cycle accounts payable experience.
• Sage 300 and MS Excel experience
• At least 2 years in commercial construction or a related project-driven industry (general contracting, specialty trades, homebuilding, civil)
• Strong attention to detail with a track record of catching coding errors before they hit the general ledger
• Job cost coding experience in a construction environment
• Experience supporting project managers or a controller
• Account reconciliation experience
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and multiple active projects
• Strong communication and organizational skills; self-starter who works well independently

Preferred Experience:

• HH2 experience
• AP automation or document management software experience
