Job summary

Rio Blanco County seeks a detail‑oriented accounting professional to provide payroll and accounts payable support, ensuring timely, accurate processing of invoices and payroll. Under the Budget & Finance Director, you will verify documents, reconcile statements, and maintain compliance with county policies and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review invoices for accuracy, documentation and approval prior to payment.
• Ensure payments align with County policy and procurement guidelines.
• Verify contract payments within limits and update contract workbook.
• Enter and review vouchers in accounting software; run reports.
• Process credit applications.
• Maintain County credit card inventory and policy compliance.
• Respond to vendor inquiries and reconcile statements.
• Handle W‑9s; process 1099 IRS reporting and mailings.
• Prepare and maintain payroll records and reports.
• Reconcile and process payroll; post payroll to general ledger.
• File payroll tax reports monthly/quarterly/annually; track sick/vacation.
• Manage copier meter reading and postage machine.
• Prepare adjusting journal entries for AP and payroll.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
