Job summary

Brown Advisory is seeking an Accounts Payable & Operations Manager in Baltimore to oversee the firm’s payments, drive strong controls, and lead process improvements across finance. This role partners with cross-functional teams to optimize the procure-to-pay lifecycle and automate workflows, delivering high-quality reporting and insights to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or BS in Accounting or Business.
• Experience with Workday.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build a highly engaged AP team through coaching and development.
• Full cycle accounts payable duties including coding invoices and reconciliations.
• Oversee vendor master data governance, maintenance, and compliance documentation.
• Own and enhance AP internal controls including onboarding, approvals, and fraud prevention.
• Identify and lead procure-to-pay improvements with cross-functional partners.
• Plan and execute month-end close schedule and accrual preparation.
• Support year-end audits and regulatory examinations with documentation and data.
• Develop and monitor AP performance metrics (timeliness, aging, efficiency).
• Lead AP technology roadmap and automation strategy.
• Serve as SME for Workday AP workflows (testing, controls, adoption).
• Participate in ad hoc process-improvement projects and system enhancements.
• Manage Brown Advisory’s expense reimbursement program.
• Provide spending insights to support decision-making.
