Job summary

SpectrumCareers is seeking a Lead Accounts Payable Clerk for the Finger Lakes region in NY to lead day-to-day AP processing and mentor AP staff.

You will implement processes, oversee AP batches, manage vendor inquiries, and assist with cash flow decisions in a collaborative healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred.
• At least 2 years of computerized accounts payable experience; 5+ years preferred.
• Experience with AP software; familiarity with Meditech, Lawson, or UKG (UltiPro) is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word; PowerPoint is a plus.
• Discretion with confidential information and a professional, courteous approach.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines consistently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a team-first attitude.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounts payable operations by guiding and training staff and improving processes.
• Enter and process vendor invoices according to established policies and procedures.
• Complete system interfaces into the AP ledger, including AP batches and re-batches, refunds, and payroll.
• Run AP check runs and assist management with payment and cash flow decisions.
• Research and answer internal and external AP questions promptly and professionally.
• Support other Accounting Department functions as needed.

About the Opportunity

A respected regional healthcare organization in the Finger Lakes is looking for an experienced Lead Accounts Payable Clerk to join its Fiscal Services team. You’ll report to the Assistant Controller and lead day-to-day accounts payable processing. That includes guiding and training AP staff, improving processes, and helping make payment and cash flow decisions. This is a good fit for a detail-oriented AP professional who wants to take on a leadership role in a collaborative, mission-driven setting.

What You’ll Do

• Lead accounts payable operations by recommending, implementing, and troubleshooting AP processes. You’ll also train and support department staff.
• Enter and process vendor invoices according to established policies and procedures.
• Complete system interfaces into the AP ledger, including AP batches and re-batches, patient refunds, and payroll.
• Run AP check runs and help management with payment and cash flow decisions.
