Job summary

SJRC Texas is seeking an Accounts Payable Accounting Clerk to join our Belong team in a hybrid work arrangement. You’ll process invoices, maintain vendor records, and support day-to-day accounting operations to sustain our mission supporting children with emotional and psychological needs.

The role requires 1–3 years of AP experience, proficiency in Excel and common accounting software, and careful attention to detail. Residency within the specified Texas Region 8 counties is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; basic accounting principles.
• 1–3 years of accounts payable or related admin experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office; strong attention to detail.
• Experience with accounting software or ERP systems; nonprofit experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process and review vendor invoices with proper coding and approvals.
• Prepare and execute weekly or scheduled payment runs via checks, ACH, and electronic methods.
• Reconcile vendor statements; investigate discrepancies and resolve balances.
• Maintain vendor records, including payment information and tax docs; organize records.
• Oversee the fuel card program: setup, PINs, processing, and expense allocation.

What You’ll Actually Do

• Invoice Processing: Process and review vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and required approvals for payment.
• Payment Management: Prepare and execute weekly or scheduled payment runs, utilizing checks, ACH, and electronic methods.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile vendor statements, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding balances.
• Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate vendor records, including payment information and tax documentation, and organize electronic and physical accounting records.
• Operational Support: Oversee the organization’s fuel card program, including setup, PINs, invoice processing, and department expense allocation.

The Must-Haves

• Background: High school diploma or equivalent, with a foundational understanding of basic accounting principles and accounts payable procedures.
• Experience: 1-3 years preferred in accounts payable, accounting, or related administrative functions, with prior use of accounting software or ERP systems.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office, strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational and time-management skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience in the Nonprofit Industry, familiarity with general ledger accounts and month-end close procedures, knowledge of sales/use tax and 1099 reporting, and experience with QuickBooks or Sage Intacct. A valid Texas Driver’s License and proof of current automobile insurance are also preferred.
