Job summary

optiBPO is hiring an Assistant Accountant to join a UK-based team while working from home. The role covers transactional accounting, journal entries, AP/AR, month-end tasks, and reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.

You’ll support the Finance Manager and team, with duties across payroll, expense claims, credit card reconciliations, and banking activities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• MS365 proficiency with Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience with Sage 50 accounting software preferred.
• Solid finance experience in SMEs or similar turnover (£5m–£10m).
• Understanding of full finance cycle: AP, AR, reconciliations, reporting.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Invoice processing and journal entries.
• Accounts payable and accounts receivable management.
• Month-end close and reconciliations.
• Support banking and daily payment runs.

Job Description

As an Assistant Accountant, the role will involve performing transactional accounting tasks, including journal entries, accounts payable, and general month-end tasks to finalize accounts every month. Provide support to the Finance Manager and wider team by assisting with day-to-day accounting tasks, month-end processes, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Operations

• Sales Ledger: daily invoicing, credit notes, invoice queries, Stripe and Sage Pay transaction processing
• Purchase Ledger: daily invoice processing and coding, resolving queries, statement reconciliation
• support weekly/monthly payment runs
• Support daily banking and reconciliations
• Full ownership of employee expense claim (with manager approvals)
• Full ownership of credit card reconciliation and filling

Support manufacturing division for all of the above – small turnover of <500k per year.

Financial Reporting & Controls

• Monthly close: Ledger reconciliations.
• Monthly journals: prepayments
