This position exists to reconcile checking account bank statements, process all cost allocation for various expenses as needed, process all invoice payments for federal, state and local accounts, enter Employee Business Expenses into SEMA4 and post them to Minnesota State, monitor purchasing cards, enter expenses into cost allocation, and enter payroll deduction requests into SEMA4.Responsibilities and ResultsProcess payments for all approved invoices for RCTC. Verify all appropriations items have been received, Process p-card cost allocation to ensure timely payments to vendors and accurate accounting for cost centersReconcile all checking monthly bank statement to ensure Minnesota State Cash agrees with the Bank Cash monthlyEnter cost allocation for various processes and ensure accurate and timely posting of chargesReview and enter SEMA4 employee expense reports information so employee reimbursement is processed timely and posted to correct cost centers to ensure accurate accounting of cost centers.Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner. Minimum QualificationsKnowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records and reports; locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems. Technical skills to include computer utilization and excel spreadsheets.Knowledge of the Minnesota Accounting and Procurement System (MAPS), or other private or governmental accounting system, sufficient to query and compile records and reports, and assist with preparation and maintenance of spending plans, financial status reports and budget requests.Working Knowledge of electronic spreadsheets and word processing software.Mathematics skills sufficient to calculate, review and reconcile data and balance accountsAbility to design, interpret and explain work procedures and operations and provide advice on fiscal policies and procedures. Ability to read and write a variety of materials in English.Preferred QualificationKnowledge of Minnesota State accounting system to prepare the bank reconciliation and the budget reconciliation.Experience with grant accounting reconciliation.Experience working in Higher EducationTwo-year degree in accounting or accounting related field.Hourly Range:$22.57 - $31.89 / hourly ($47,126 - $66,586 estimated annual income)Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)40 hours weekly / Mon - Fri 8:00am-4:30pmApplication ProcedureApplications will ONLY be accepted through the online application process. With its 31 institutions, including 24 two-year colleges and seven state universities, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system is the largest single provider of higher education in the state of Minnesota. The colleges and universities operate 54 campuses in 47 Minnesota communities and serve about 250,000 students in credit-based courses. Overall, the system produces about 33,500 graduates each year. In addition to credit-based courses, the system offers customized training programs that serve about 153,200 employees from 6,000 Minnesota businesses each year. The law creating the system was passed by the Minnesota Legislature in 1991 and went into effect July 1, 1995. The law merged the state's community colleges, technical colleges and state universities into one system. The system is separate from the University of Minnesota.
