Column Technical Services is seeking an experienced Accounting Team Lead with a strong grasp of financial operations, leadership capabilities, and system knowledge to guide projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure accuracy across daily functions. Job Summary:

Oversee core accounting activities, provide guidance to staff accountants, and actively contributes to broader financial operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining accuracy, ensuring compliance, and supporting the integrity of the organization's financial landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct monthly account reconciliations and analysis for balance sheet and income statement accuracy
• Investigate account discrepancies and support complex estimation and variance reviews
• Review and coordinate activities of staff accountants, ensuring timely completion of close processes
• Provide backup support in General Accounting functions as needed to maintain continuity
• Assist with budget development, management reporting, and the rollout of new financial initiatives
• Manage daily finance operations, including cash application, asset capitalization, and system-related interfaces
• Lead, coach, and develop junior team members to support performance and professional growth
• Contribute to the preparation, review, and in-depth analysis of financial statements
• Partner with external auditors to ensure accurate and timely year-end closing and reporting
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 4 to 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or related financial roles OR 7 – 10 years accepted in lieu of degree Preferred Education
• Solid grasp of accounting fundamentals and a strong understanding of core financial operations
• Hands-on experience with general ledger platforms such as SmartStream or equivalent systems
• Proven ability to lead projects and guide teams to successful outcomes
• Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in team environments
