Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking an experienced General Accounting Manager to plan, direct, and manage accounting activities, financial analysis, and decision support. You will oversee general ledger accounting, month-end close, reporting, and process improvements while ensuring compliance with internal policies, SOX, and U.S. GAAP.

The role partners with business and finance leaders, supports audits, and drives continuous improvement, data governance, and automation across accounting processes.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of accounting and business principles, including U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and financial policies.
• Experience in leading and developing teams or projects.
• CPA designation preferred; public accounting experience encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Accounting Compliance, internal controls, and policy adherence.
• Manage general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and analyses.
• Lead month-end close, ensure timely financial results and accuracy.
• Oversee co-sourced accounting operations and policy compliance.
• Provide financial analysis, SG&A reporting, and variance explanations to management.
