Iowa Department of Corrections – Second District in Ames is seeking an Accounting Support Technician 2 to support our financial operations behind the scenes. This role emphasizes accuracy, organization, and collaboration within a mission-driven team.

The position handles multiple accounting functions, including invoicing, revenue coding, deposits, ledger entries, and budget prep, ensuring records balance and compliance with procedures.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

• Effective written and verbal communication; able to handle confidential information professionally.

Responsibilities

• Process all invoices promptly.
• Process revenue with correct revenue code.
• Prepare bank deposits and reconcile accounts.
• Enter activity into the Fiduciary General Ledger and maintain documentation.
• Reconcile Fiduciary accounts with weekly and monthly banking processes.
• Assist with training in system procedures and provide technical help to field staff on banking matters.
• Assist Managers with staff expense reimbursements and travel policy procedures.
• Prepare and review invoices for federal contracts; verify payments and documentation.
• Contribute to operating budget preparation and run reconciliation reports as needed.
