Job summary

The City of Ann Arbor is hiring an Accounting Specialist responsible for_accounts payable and accounts receivable, invoicing, and cash ledger maintenance under the supervision of the Finance Director. This position is represented by AFSCME and includes a non-negotiable starting rate.

Educational requirements include an Associate’s Degree in accounting or related fields, with preferred Bachelor’s in related disciplines and experience in housing programs.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in accounting, finance, economics, business or a related field required.
• Alternative combination of education and work experience may be considered at City of Ann Arbor’s discretion.
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, economics, business or a related field preferred.
• At least two years of experience in Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher or Public Housing Programs preferred.
• At least four years of experience in private or public property management preferred.
• Project-based accounting or Financial Management certification in an affordable housing program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of the Finance Director, responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable processes: entering and researching invoices; accepting and applying payments from tenants and voucher clients; keeping cash ledgers up-to-date.
