Overview of the Accounting Specialist Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support daily accounting operations, including transaction matching, reconciliations, reporting, and resolving discrepancies. This role works closely with multiple departments to ensure accurate billing and payable transactions. The ideal candidate has strong Excel skills, enjoys working with data, and is comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Accounting Specialist Responsibilities

• Create and match daily transactions within the company's accounting system.
• The Accounting Specialist will prepare and analyze daily accounting reports.
• Research and resolve transaction matching exceptions with internal teams.
• Create and maintain automated matching rules within the system.
• Reconcile daily deliveries and related fees to ensure accurate billing of products, freight, and additional charges.
• Create and update system records for new products, customers, and locations.
• The Accounting Specialist will compile supporting documentation for audits.
• Assist with month-end close activities and other accounting projects as needed.

Qualifications Of The Accounting Specialist Role

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field preferred; comparable work experience will also be considered.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
• 2 years of experience working with an ERP or trading software preferred.
• Experience with RightAngle or a similar system is a plus.
• Oil and gas or commodity industry experience preferred.
