Job summary

Cogent Analytics in Greensboro seeks a Consulting Staff Accountant to support multiple client engagements with hands-on bookkeeping. You will handle day-to-day transactions, prepare entries, and assist in financial statement prep, while communicating effectively with clients and internal teams.

The role requires strong detail orientation, independent work capability, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. QuickBooks Online experience is a plus in a dynamic consulting environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and perform day-to-day financial transactions for clients (A/R and A/P).
• Prepare journal entries (loans, taxes, bank fees, 401(k) deductions).
• Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and tax/payroll reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting documents.
• Manage and reconcile credit card activity.
• Collaborate with in-house Consulting Controllers and CFOs.

Consulting Staff Accountant

The ideal candidate will be a proven Bookkeeper comfortable with assisting multiple clients. In this role you should be a strong communicator and able to handle day-to-day activities, have excellent attention to detail, and be able to work independently as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILTIES

• Monitor and/or perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, and recording of accounts receivables and accounts payable.
• Prepare journal entries such as loans, taxes, bank fees, 401(k) deductions, etc.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, sales tax, payroll taxes, and 401(k).
• Monitor and/or prepare monthly financial statements and all supporting documents.
• Credit card management and reconciliation.
• Work in conjunction with our in-house Consulting Controllers and CFO’s.

OTHER DUTIES and RESPONSIBILTIES

• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Prior hands-on accounting experience.
