Job summary

Professional Search Group, a growing tax and accounting advisory firm serving Southern California, has created an Accounting Manager role to help lead and scale its client accounting services practice.

The Senior Accounting Services Manager will lead the team, oversee the monthly and year-end close across multiple client engagements, ensure accurate financial reporting, and partner with business owners to provide outsourced controller-level guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including 2+ years leadership experience managing and developing teams.
• Must have experience with California based businesses and individuals.
• Strong background in bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and client accounting services.
• Experience managing multiple client engagements or businesses with multiple entities and competing deadlines simultaneously.
• Proven experience designing and implementing scalable processes and workflows.
• Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and retain a high-performing accounting services team.
• Review monthly and quarterly financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting standards.
• Oversee the month-end and year-end close process across multiple client engagements, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Provide technical accounting guidance to team members on complex accounting matters and client-specific issues.
• Analyze financial statements, KPIs, and operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and communicate actionable insights to clients.
• Manage and review general ledger activity, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash management processes for client accounts.
• Oversee bookkeeping functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and bill pay services for clients.
• Partner directly with business owners and leadership teams to provide outsourced controller-level support, financial guidance, and strategic recommendations.
