NIIC National Interstate Insurance Company is seeking an Accounting Representative III to join our team in Richfield, Ohio on a hybrid schedule. The role focuses on clerical/accounting tasks, billing, reconciliations, and customer support across multiple lines of insurance.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, and 6 years of accounting support experience; an Associate degree is preferred. Knowledge of billing systems and strong communication skills are essential.

• Provides billing information, account reconciliation, and billing problem resolution.
• Uses billing/policy applications to service customer inquiries.

• May follow up on delinquent accounts and interact with agencies.
• Reconciles payments/receipts with account information.
• Prepares account analysis and reports as needed.
• Guides and assists lower-level staff and acts as back-up.

National Interstate is looking for an Accounting Representative III to join their team. This individual will work a hybrid schedule out of the Richfield, Ohio office. National Interstate’s culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships.

Core in‑office days are Tuesday–Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of routine and non-routine clerical/accounting functions, in accordance with procedures.
• May provide support in one or more areas (i.e., direct bill, agency bill, general accounting, accounts receivable, etc.).
• Provides billing information, account reconciliation, and billing problem resolution to internal and external customers involving multiple lines of insurance.
• Utilizes working knowledge of multiple billing and/or policy applications and processing procedures to effectively service customer inquiries of a complex nature.
• Requires inbound and outbound phone support.
• May follow-up on complex delinquent accounts including communication with collection agencies and other entities.
• Reconcile payments/receipts with account information.
• Fosters and builds relationships with other departments and/or outside agencies to resolve problems, using both written and/or verbal communication.
• Prepares account analysis, reviewing the entire relationship across one or more billing systems.
• May gather data to compile reports and/or create ad hoc reports.
• Complies with appropriate regulations and/or company policies and guidelines.
• Provides guidance and assistance to lower-level positions, as well as serving as a back-up to others.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Field of Study: Business, Accounting or a related discipline preferred.
• Experience: Generally, a minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting support functions.
• Previous experience in the insurance industry preferred.
