The candidate will post journal entries, manage month-end closes, and support job costing while ensuring accuracy and timely reporting. Construction experience and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum associate degree in accounting or related field.
• 2+ years of related experience required.
• Construction accounting experience is REQUIRED.
• Job costing experience strongly desired.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software.
• Paylocity experience a plus.
• Experience with construction or job-cost systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Reconcile bank accounts and ledger accounts.
• Maintain fixed asset schedule.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Perform job costing.
• Accounts payable: approve invoices not coded to jobs.
• Review weekly check run for accuracy.
• Create, upload, and release weekly payment files to the bank.
• Accounts receivable: monitor outstanding balances and aging.
• Payroll: process weekly payroll and review time entries.
• Set up new hires in Paylocity payroll system.

Accentuate Staffing has partnered with a well-established Construction Company in Durham, NC in recruiting for an Accounting & Payroll Specialist to join their team. The Accounting & Payroll Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records through general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable functions, and weekly payroll processing. The ideal candidate needs to have prior experience in the construction industry and be comfortable working in a fast-pace construction environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries
• Reconcile bank accounts and ledger accounts
• Maintain fixed asset schedule
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

Accounts Payable

• Approve invoices not coded to jobs
• Review weekly check run for accuracy
• Create, upload, and release weekly payment files to the bank

Accounts Receivable

• Monitor outstanding A/R balances
• Communicate with project teams and customers to resolve aging issues
