Job summary

Roofstock is seeking a Manager, Accounting in Oakland, CA, to lead AP, procurement, and corporate accounting functions in a hybrid role. You will supervise a small team while owning journal entries, reconciliations, payroll, and close processes to ensure accuracy and US GAAP compliance.

The position involves partnering with FP&A and external consultants on special projects, and driving automation to speed the monthly close. A hands‑on leader with 4+ years of accounting experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 1-2 years in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
• Experience managing month‑end and year‑end close in a fast‑paced environment.
• Hands‑on experience with accounts payable and procurement operations.
• Solid working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in financial reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Own AP & Procurement: manage full cycle of accounts payable and procurement operations.
• Payroll & Benefits: own payroll and benefits accounting, including related journal entries and reconciliations.
• Journal Entries & Account Reconciliations: prepare and review journal entries; reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Month-end close: support monthly close; meet deadlines and speed up to a 4–5 day close.
• Reporting: produce monthly cash reporting and the monthly close package with GAAP and non‑GAAP measures.
• Team management: lead a team of two; assign workload and review.
• Cross-functional: partner with FP&A, external consultants, and other departments on projects.
• Process improvement: identify automation opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• AI & automation: implement AI-driven automation for journal entries and workflows.
