Job summary

The University of Colorado Anschutz Finance Office is seeking an Accounting Operations Lead or Accounting Operations Program Manager to oversee advanced accounting operations, chartfield governance, and financial reporting. This role acts as a subject-matter expert and leads campus accounting support while ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.

Hybrid work availability with campus days, leading a team and shaping operational workflows, policies, and processes in collaboration

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of GAAP, GASB requirements and internal controls.
• Experience with month-end and fiscal year-end close processes.
• Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills.
• Experience supervising staff and coaching.
• Higher education or government accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead campus accounting support and provide guidance to departments.
• Review and approve complex transactions, journal entries, chartfield requests.
• Manage financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis; resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Provide consultative accounting advice and training to campus departments.
• Supervise and develop accounting staff.
• Identify improvements to processes, controls, and automation.
