Accounting Manager – Utilities & Regulated Energy
Remote considered for experienced utility accountants with extensive experience working with the Railroad Commission of Texas.
We are seeking an Accounting Manager to lead financial accounting operations for a private equity backed regulated energy company. This role offers visibility across the business, direct reporting to senior finance leadership, and the opportunity to shape financial processes in a lean, hands-on environment.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and mentor a team of 3–5 accountants.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting cycles.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory accounting principles, and internal policies.
- Support regulatory filings with state commissions and FERC.
- Partner with auditors on annual financial and regulatory audits.
- Lead system transitions from legacy platforms to new financial/CIS systems.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related; CPA strongly preferred.
- 7–10 years progressive accounting experience, including management.
- Direct experience preparing or supporting regulatory filings with the Texas Railroad Commission (RRC).
- Prior experience in a regulated utility, energy, or infrastructure environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and regulatory accounting standards.
- Skilled with general ledger systems, CIS software, and Excel.
