Job summary

Somatus is seeking an Accounting Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting to join our team in McLean, VA. You will own monthly close activities, provide GAAP analysis including ASC 606 and ASC 460, and support disclosures and internal controls critical for IPO/SOX readiness.

Ideal candidates have CPA, 7+ years of accounting experience (public or corporate) and strong ability to work cross-functionally with Legal, FP&A, and external auditors. Hybrid work option available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience including public accounting, corporate accounting, or technical accounting.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 and ASC 460.
• Experience preparing or reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own or support key monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
• Serve as a technical accounting resource under U.S. GAAP including ASC 606 and ASC 460.
• Prepare and review technical accounting memoranda and supporting analyses.
• Partner with Legal, Finance, FP&A, Operations, and stakeholders on new or amended arrangements.
• Maintain and enhance chart of accounts, policies, and close processes.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to support IPO/SOX readiness.
• Assist with disclosures and audit requests.
• Review work of staff and coach team members.
