Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Senior Manager of Technical Accounting in Herndon, VA. The role requires active CPA with Big Four background and at least seven years in technical accounting.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to deliver technical guidance, lead new standard implementations, and support SEC filings and SOX initiatives, ensuring accurate disclosures and GAAP compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum seven years of progressive experience in technical accounting.
• Experience with ASC 606, ASC 805, ASC 842, ASC 718 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and audits.
• Support preparation of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxies, and earnings releases.
• Provide technical accounting guidance across Finance, Tax, and Legal teams.
• Lead adoption of new accounting standards and ensure U.S. GAAP compliance.
• Develop accounting memos documenting conclusions for complex transactions.
• Maintain and update corporate accounting policies and documentation.
• Serve as SME for revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensation, and other areas.
• Support SOX controls and related initiatives.
• Drive strategic accounting projects and special initiatives.

Compensation: $160-175K

Job Description:

• Collaborate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual financial statement audits.
• Support the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and earnings releases.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Legal, Operations, and Business Development, to provide technical accounting guidance.
• Lead the adoption and implementation of new accounting standards and ensure compliance with evolving U.S. GAAP requirements.
• Evaluate complex accounting transactions, research applicable guidance, and prepare technical accounting memoranda documenting conclusions.
• Determine appropriate accounting treatment and financial statement disclosures for complex or non-routine transactions.
• Develop, maintain, and update corporate accounting policies and technical accounting documentation.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for key accounting areas, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), business combinations (ASC 805), lease accounting (ASC 842), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), software development costs, purchase accounting, goodwill and long-lived asset impairment, joint ventures, segment reporting, and derivatives.
• Support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance by assisting with technical accounting controls and related initiatives.
• Contribute to strategic accounting projects and other special initiatives that support organizational objectives.

You’re a great fit for this job if you have:

• Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in technical accounting.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in U.S. GAAP, including Revenue Recognition (ASC 606), Business Combinations (ASC 805), Lease Accounting (ASC 842), and Stock-Based Compensation (ASC 718).
• Previous experience as a Manager or Senior Manager with a Big Four public accounting firm.
• Ability to work onsite to Reston three to four days per week.
