Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Minimum of three years accounting experience required.
• Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles required.
• Experience with general ledger accounting and reconciliations required.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) required.
• Valid Illinois driver's license and good driving record required.
• Associate's Degree in Accounting preferred.
• Experience with grants, restricted funds, or government contracts preferred.
• Familiarity with nonprofit financial statements (Position, Activities, Functional Expenses) preferred.
• Experience with accounting systems such as MIP, Intacct, NetSuite or similar preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
• Prepare, review, and post monthly journal entries, including accruals and adjusting entries.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Produce and analyze internal financial statements and management reports.
• Coordinate annual financial audit preparation and auditor requests.
• Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of restricted funds with Finance.
• Prepare and review grant reporting in compliance with funder requirements.
• Drive process improvements to strengthen controls and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Entitlement teams on financial matters.
