Job summary

Emergent Staffing, LLC in Carlsbad, California is seeking a hands‑on Accounting Manager to own the day‑to‑day accounting operations, including close, reporting, AP, reconciliations, and internal controls. The role offers hybrid work with occasional office visits and requires US work authorization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Active CPA license.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Public accounting or manufacturing environment experience.
• Hands‑on experience managing or leading monthly close.
• Experience preparing financial statements and management reports.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
• Experience with GL, reconciliations, AP, and accruals.
• Experience supporting external audits.
• Leadership experience or lead/supervisory capacity.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with accounting/ERP systems.
• Willingness to balance detailed work with higher-level responsibilities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Own the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end financial close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and GL activity.
• Prepare financial statements, schedules, and monthly management reports.
• Oversee bookkeeping, AP, vendor payments, invoicing, and daily accounting activities.
• Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality of accounting work.
• Prepare variance analyses and explain financial results.
• Lead and review work of fractional, part‑time, and consulting resources.
• Help establish and develop an internal accounting team as the organization grows.
• Design, document, and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Support external audits and coordinate documentation.
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
• Research accounting matters and document conclusions.
• Partner with finance/operations to improve accuracy and reporting.
• Help develop inventory and cost‑accounting processes as manufacturing grows.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, reporting, workflows, and close efficiency.
• Take on higher‑level accounting and financial projects.
