Job summary

Jobot is partnering with a growing company in Mundelein, IL to hire an Accounting Manager for a hybrid role. You will lead a small accounting team, oversee daily operations, and drive month-end close and reporting across multiple entities.

You will focus on process improvement, system enhancements, internal controls, and collaboration with operations, sales, and other departments, while reporting to the CFO and partnering with leaders across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership.
• Experience in a multi-entity organization or centralized accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, reconciliations, close, and internal controls.
• Experience improving accounting processes, implementing systems, and driving adoption.
• Collaborate with non-finance teams to improve business processes and financial accuracy.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Process Improvement and Integration

• Develop and implement standardized accounting procedures across multiple business units.
• Support the integration of new businesses into existing accounting processes, reporting structures, and systems.
• Help transition decentralized accounting activities into a more centralized operating model.
• Collaborate with operations, sales, and other departments to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial transactions.
• Develop repeatable procedures for integrating future acquisitions and establishing clear responsibilities across teams.

Accounting Systems and Technology

• Maintain consistent accounting structures and reporting standards across business units.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems, automation, and financial workflows.
• Support system enhancements, implementations, and the adoption of new technology.
• Help transition teams from legacy processes to standardized accounting practices.

Internal Controls and Compliance

• Strengthen internal controls across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing, and financial reporting.
• Ensure accounting practices align with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
• Coordinate audit documentation, supporting schedules, and compliance requirements.

Accounting Operations Oversight

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including payables, receivables, reconciliations, payroll coordination, and intercompany accounting.
• Monitor cash activity, outstanding receivables, vendor payments, and related financial reporting.
• Improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial data used for operational and management decisions.

Team Leadership

• Lead and develop a small accounting team, with opportunities for future growth.
• Establish standard operating procedures, training resources, and clear ownership of responsibilities.
• Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Month End Close and Reporting

• Support the timely completion of monthly financial close activities across multiple business units.
• Ensure accurate reconciliations, reporting packages, and supporting documentation.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators related to billing, collections, payments, and accounting efficiency.
• Support applicable indirect tax compliance and related documentation requirements.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Experience working in a multi entity organization or centralized accounting environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, account reconciliations, financial close, and internal controls.
• Experience improving accounting processes, implementing systems, and driving adoption of new procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with non finance teams to improve business processes and financial accuracy.

Preferred

• CPA, CMA, or MBA.
• Experience supporting business integrations, acquisitions, or accounting process standardization.
• Background in a growing, multi location organization.
• Experience supporting external audits and developing accounting infrastructure.
