KBW Financial Staffing & Recruiting partners with a client in the Augusta, Maine area to recruit an Accounting Manager who will oversee core accounting functions and support financial reporting and operational needs.

The role offers ownership of accounting processes, opportunities to contribute to financial planning and internal controls, and collaboration with leadership across departments. Salary range is $100,000-$130,000 DOE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including overseeing accounting processes.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems; system conversion or implementation experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and communicate across departments.
• Prior supervisory experience and CPA eligibility are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and monthly and annual close processes.
• Review financial statements and reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor accounting operations and maintain efficient procedures.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for management decisions.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
• Coordinate audit preparation and provide supporting documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and controls.
• Collaborate with department leaders on financial matters and special projects.
• Provide guidance and support to accounting staff.
