Job summary

Nitricity, a Fremont, CA company transforming fertilizer production, seeks an Accounting Manager to own the monthly close, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations. You will partner with Operations and Engineering to strengthen cost accounting, inventory, and capital projects, while supporting FP&A and treasury needs.

You will manage external auditors, lead internal controls improvements, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience including ownership of a company-level month-end close or audit senior/manager-level experience, and supervising or reviewing others.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP (ASC 606, 842, and 718), financial reporting, and general ledger accounting.
• Experience owning a company-level month-end close end-to-end, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience as primary day-to-day contact for external auditors.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize deadlines, and resolve accounting issues proactively.
• Resourceful problem-solver with ownership mindset and good communication.
• Cross-team collaboration and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close: manage journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statements; drive close-cycle improvements.
• Oversee AP, AR, cash, and GL activities; maintain chart of accounts and balance sheet integrity.
• Strengthen financial reporting with variance analysis and leadership insights.
• Own technical accounting: ASC 606, 842, 718, and inventory; document memos for leadership/auditors.
• Build manufacturing accounting capabilities with Operations and Engineering."
• Support budgeting, cash forecasting, and capital-project reporting.
• Manage audit and compliance as primary contact for external auditors; coordinate with tax on filings.
• Improve processes and internal controls; drive scalable accounting systems.
• Collaborate across the business to resolve issues and support initiatives.
• Lead and mentor junior accounting staff.
