Partner Company is seeking an Accounting Manager - Client Lead for a fully remote position based in the United States. You will lead a portfolio of fast-growing startup clients, acting as a trusted financial partner to CEOs and executive teams with hands-on accounting leadership and strategic guidance.

You will oversee month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls, while mentoring staff and coordinating audits, due diligence, and technical accounting research.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Accounting Manager - Client Lead based in United States.

This is a high-impact accounting leadership role supporting a portfolio of rapidly growing startup and high-growth clients. You will serve as a trusted financial partner to CEOs and executive teams, providing both operational accounting leadership and strategic guidance. The role combines hands-on technical accounting, financial reporting, team management, client relationship ownership, and process improvement. You will oversee accounting operations while building scalable financial infrastructure and strong financial controls. The position also offers exposure to complex projects such as audits, due diligence, and technical accounting research. Success requires strong business judgment, exceptional communication, and the ability to translate financial complexity into practical insights. This is a fully remote opportunity in a fast-paced environment focused on helping ambitious companies scale sustainably.

Accountabilities

• Serve as the primary, high-touch contact for a portfolio of clients, owning relationships and providing strategic guidance on accounting, managerial accounting, and broader financial activities.
• Manage, coach, and mentor Staff and Senior Accountants, providing detailed reviews and feedback to maintain high standards of accuracy, quality, and financial reporting.
• Oversee core accounting operations, including the end-to-end monthly close process, financial statement preparation, and the effective execution of day-to-day transactional activities.
• Establish and maintain strong financial controls and scalable accounting processes that support the growth and evolving needs of startup clients.
• Lead and coordinate strategic ad hoc projects, including external audits, due diligence activities, and complex technical accounting research.
• Deliver accurate, timely, and actionable financial reporting that enables clients and executive teams to make informed decisions.
• Analyze financial metrics, trends, and variances to identify important business insights and communicate their implications clearly to clients.
• Collaborate closely with internal Finance and Tax teams to ensure client needs are addressed comprehensively and delivered with a high level of service.

Requirements

• Approximately 8+ years of relevant, client-facing accounting experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or a comparable environment.
• At least 2 years of experience managing, coaching, or developing an accounting team.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting required.
• CPA or MBA is highly preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong technical accounting expertise and demonstrated ability to establish financial controls and scale accounting operations.
• Significant experience with core general ledger platforms such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct.
• Familiarity with modern finance and accounting technology, including platforms such as Bill, Ramp, Stripe, Gusto, Rippling, Cin7, and Brex.
• Web3/Crypto and/or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) accounting experience is a strong plus and may receive special consideration.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts clearly and concisely to executives, clients, and non-financial stakeholders.
• Highly organized, professional, motivated, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong client-service orientation and the ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders.
• Strategic and hands-on mindset, with a genuine interest in working with high-growth startup companies.
