The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Ziff Davis as a Europe Finance Manager on a fixed-term contract (maternity cover for 1 year), based in Dublin, currently working remotely. The main focus is to lead and motivate the GL team during month-end processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all activities. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the International Shared Services Director in Ireland and the Global Controller in the US.

The team is responsible for preparing monthly management accounts, including reconciliation of balance sheet and sub-ledger accounts (AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cash Management), and supporting year-end audits to high standards. The role also involves process improvement and automation projects, exposure to US and local GAAP, and communication with international colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

1. Managing the month-end close process from start to finish, leading daily meetings with AP, AR, and GL teams to meet deadlines.
2. Ensuring proper and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP policies, procedures, and internal controls, including ASC 842 reconciliation.
3. Overseeing month-end closing for assigned subsidiaries, ensuring revenue recognition and deferred revenue are recorded accurately and timely.
4. Reviewing reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and following up on queries.
5. Preparing journal entries in multiple currencies when required.
6. Reviewing VAT journals and supporting group VAT returns, ensuring accurate reconciliation and posting of VAT-related entries.
7. Leading the year-end audit process for all European entities.
8. Supporting process improvement and automation initiatives.
9. Cleaning legacy system entries and reconciliations as needed.
10. Collaborating on TSA activities and providing accounting support for financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting.
11. Managing team goals, providing feedback, and conducting regular reviews.

Key Requirements and Experience

1. Fully qualified accountant with technical knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, Local GAAP, ASC 842, and ASC 606; experience reporting under US GAAP is advantageous.
2. 5-6+ years of relevant experience.
3. Management experience of 2-3+ years, leading 3-6 direct reports, with ability to motivate and develop team members across Europe and US.
4. Excellent communication skills and ability to escalate issues appropriately.
5. Technical support capability in accounting matters.
6. Team player, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
7. Strong business acumen and cross-cultural working ability.
8. Experience with Oracle Fusion or similar systems is advantageous.
9. Experience preparing statutory year-end accounts and month-end closing.
10. Proficient in Excel.
