Summary: Our grocery retail client is seeking a REMOTE Accounting Manager to help out on a 12-18 month contract basis. The Accounting Manager will lead, review, and prepare timely, accurate financial reporting for the business in accordance with GAAP and company policies. This includes reviewing gross margin, income, and expenses. Provides accounting leadership and support to Operations, Management, and Merchandising teams, and assists with audit oversight and internal control testing.

Start Date: ASAP

Expected Duration: 12-18 month contract

Flexibility: 100% REMOTE!!!

Pay Rate: $32.43/ hour

Schedule: 8am-4:30pm EST hours

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare and distribute supplemental financial reports for management both within and outside the department.
• Supervise and lead a team to support efficient operations and drive performance toward departmental goals.
• Review or complete financial reconciliations and processes related to PDI systems, including center store inventory, fuel modules, and rebate tracking, to ensure accurate reporting and minimize shrink.
• Manage monthly COGS calculations for center store and fuel within PDI, and reconcile inventory balances with Oracle, posting necessary journal entries.
• Analyze and prepare recurring journal entries in Oracle ERP for weekly and month-end close.
• Partner with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve financial reporting questions and discrepancies identified during P&L reviews.
• Serve as a key accounting resource for Operations, Merchandising, and Management teams, supporting business projects and ongoing needs.
• Prepare and review account reconciliations for asset and liability accounts by validating third-party support and general ledger accuracy.
• Verify that general ledger activity is correctly classified and posted to the appropriate locations, including individual stores and product levels.
• Assist with audit-related requests and internal control testing, including quarterly and annual audits.
• Participate in special projects as assigned by leadership and support cross-functional team members as needed.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for analysis and reporting tasks.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting .
• Experience with month end/year end close, financial reporting, variance analysis, gross margin, inventory, cost of goods COGS).
• Prior leadership and team management experience.
• Excellent communicator both written and verbal, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, flexible and adaptable to changing environments.
