Job description

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer Location: 100% Remote (U.S.) Base Compensation: $110,000 – $125,000 Company Type: Private Equity–Backed, High-Growth

The Opportunity

Our client, a private equity–backed company in a growth and value-creation phase, is hiring an Accounting Manager to serve as the CFO's right hand and the day-to-day owner of the accounting function.

This is a hands-on, in-the-weeds role. You will be closing the books yourself, not reviewing someone else's work. If you want a seat where you build the process rather than inherit it, this is that seat.

It is also a role with a clear runway. The CFO is hiring with succession in mind: as the company scales, this position is expected to grow into a Controller role, with the potential to step into the CFO seat over the long term for the right person. The candidate who thrives here is technically strong today and commercially curious about what comes next.

Because the emphasis is on trajectory, our client is open on title tenure. A high-performing Senior Accountant with 3+ years of experience who is ready for their first management seat will be considered alongside candidates already carrying the Accounting Manager title.

What You'll Own

Month-End Close

  • Own the full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycle end to end
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and account reconciliations
  • Drive close timeline compression and document the process as you go
  • Produce the monthly reporting package and flux analysis for the CFO and sponsor

Technical Accounting & Compliance

  • Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Research and document technical accounting positions; own the memo file
  • Serve as day-to-day lead for the annual audit or review — PBC lists, schedules, auditor requests
  • Support revenue recognition (ASC 606) and lease accounting (ASC 842) application
  • Prepare board and sponsor reporting packages on the sponsor's cadence
  • Support lender reporting requirements, covenant calculations, and compliance certificates
  • Assist with cash reporting, working capital analysis, and liquidity tracking

Operations & Controls

  • Manage AP, AR, payroll accounting, and the general ledger day to day
  • Build and enforce internal controls appropriate for a company of this size and stage
  • Own or support the ERP environment; identify and implement automation opportunities
  • Partner with FP&A on budget-to-actual variance and forecast inputs

Growth Path

  • Take on increasing scope as the company scales, including staff supervision and development
  • Support diligence, integration, and purchase accounting on add-on acquisitionsProgress toward Controller-level ownership of the accounting organization

  • Working command of U.S. GAAP and the ability to research and defend a position
  • Genuine willingness to operate hands-on in a lean environment — no task is beneath the role
  • Self-directed work style with the discipline to perform in a fully remote setting

  • Prior experience in a private equity–backed or otherwise sponsor-owned company
