Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager to add to their team. This is a full-time, hybrid position in Raleigh.
The Accounting Manager will oversee several critical areas of corporate accounting and financial reporting. This position will have primary responsibility for the accounting and reporting associated with inventory, capital expenditures, property and equipment, and the company's lease portfolio.
This role combines technical accounting, financial close ownership, internal controls, audit support, and team leadership. The Accounting Manager will work across Finance and Operations to ensure financial information is complete, accurate, and supported while also improving processes and developing a small accounting team.
What You'll Do
- Take ownership of the accounting and reporting for designated balance sheet and asset-related accounts.
- Review account activity, supporting schedules, and reconciliations to identify unusual activity or unresolved items.
- Ensure monthly close responsibilities are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Evaluate transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatment under company policy and U.S. GAAP.
- Investigate variances and accounting issues and coordinate resolution with the appropriate business partners.
- Maintain clear documentation supporting significant balances and accounting conclusions.
Inventory & Operations Partnership
- Provide accounting oversight for inventory-related transactions, valuations, reserves, adjustments, and write-offs.
- Work with Operations and Supply Chain to improve the accuracy of inventory records and financial reporting.
- Review inventory activity for appropriate cutoff and ensure movements are properly reflected in the accounting records.
- Monitor differences between operational systems and the general ledger and drive timely resolution.
- Assist in developing consistent procedures for inventory accounting and reporting.
Capital Investment & Asset Management
- Oversee the accounting lifecycle for property, equipment, capital expenditures, and projects under development.
- Review capital requests and transactions to ensure expenditures meet capitalization requirements.
- Manage depreciation, transfers, retirements, disposals, and impairment-related activity.
- Maintain accurate asset records and review periodic asset reporting for completeness.
- Partner with Finance and Operations to track capital investment and provide information supporting budgets and forecasts.
Lease Portfolio
- Manage the accounting and financial reporting associated with the company's lease arrangements.
- Maintain accurate records for right-of-use assets and lease obligations.
- Review periodic lease calculations and activity, including amortization, modifications, and remeasurements.
- Ensure lease-related accounting is consistently applied and adequately supported.
- Evaluate unusual lease transactions and coordinate appropriate accounting conclusions when judgment is required.
Controls & Assurance
- Maintain strong control practices around assigned accounting processes and identify areas requiring additional oversight.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, review procedures, and supporting evidence.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting materials for assigned areas.
- Serve as a key accounting contact during external audits and respond to auditor questions.
- Identify recurring discrepancies or control weaknesses and implement corrective measures.
- Help ensure assigned accounting areas remain continuously audit-ready rather than addressed only during the annual audit.
- Direct the activities of a small offshore accounting group supporting corporate accounting operations.
- Assign work, establish priorities, monitor deadlines, and review completed deliverables.
- Provide ongoing coaching and technical guidance to team members.
- Establish consistent standards for reconciliations, documentation, and reporting.
- Look for opportunities to improve the team's efficiency through better processes, clearer ownership, and standardized work.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Demonstrated experience with inventory and fixed asset accounting.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting controls.
- Hands-on experience with reconciliations, financial close, and balance sheet analysis.
- Experience accounting for capital expenditures and construction-in-progress.
- Working knowledge of lease accounting and right-of-use assets strongly preferred.
- Previous experience supervising or managing accounting personnel; offshore or shared-services experience is a plus.
- Experience with an ERP environment such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, or similar systems.
- CPA or comparable accounting credential preferred.
