Job summary

MK Search is seeking an Accounting Manager to own the full accounting function and partner with the executive team. The role carries high visibility during a growth phase and requires hands-on leadership in a casual, entrepreneurial manufacturing environment.

The position will be onsite in San Antonio, with responsibilities spanning month-end close, cost accounting, taxes and financial analysis in a rapidly expanding company.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on accounting with full close ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead full month-end and year-end close with GL, journal entries, accruals and reporting.
• Oversee AP/AR, bank reconciliations, inventory accounting and payroll reconciliation.
• Manage manufacturing cost accounting, cost variances and analysis.
• Own sales tax, audit coordination and tax-related activities.
• Support forecasting, budgeting and FP&A with the Director of FP&A.
• Collaborate with a Mexican manufacturing operation on cost activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting.
• Lead and develop a small accounting team (1 direct report).

Job description

A growing, privately held food & beverage manufacturing client is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to take ownership of the accounting function and serve as a key financial partner to the Accounting and Finance executive team. This is an elevated role with significant visibility and an opportunity to make an immediate impact within a company entering an aggressive growth phase.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full month-end and year-end close, including GL, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Own day-to-day accounting operations, including AP/AR oversight, bank reconciliations, inventory accounting and payroll reconciliation.
• Lead manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory, costing, production variances and related analysis.
• Own sales tax, audit coordination and tax-related activities.
• Support forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis in partnership with the Director of FP&A.
• Partner with a manufacturing operation in Mexico on accounting and cost-related activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting and efficiency.
• Lead and develop a small accounting team, including one direct report.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on accounting background with experience owning a full accounting function or close process.
• Proven manufacturing accounting and cost accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, inventory and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with sales tax, audits and tax support.
• Advanced Excel and analytical capabilities.
• Experience with an ERP system
• Leadership experience preferred, but strong Senior Accountants or Assistant Controllers ready to step into an Accounting Manager role will be considered.
• Ability to work fully onsite in San Antonio.
