Position Overview

The Accounting Manager will play a key role in leading the day‑to‑day accounting operations and supporting the integration of new acquisitions into the company’s financial systems and processes. This individual will oversee a small accounting team and work closely with senior leadership to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of all financial reporting activities.

The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and able to operate effectively in a growing organization where processes are still evolving. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing daily accounting responsibilities with project‑based work related to acquisition integration and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including A/R, A/P, G/L, payroll, and month‑end close.
• Manage and mentor accounting team members to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and professional growth.
• Support the integration of new acquisitions, including onboarding financial systems, standardizing reporting, and ensuring consistency with corporate policies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing financial insights to leadership.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals to maintain GAAP compliance.
• Collaborate with external auditors and provide documentation for audit preparation and review.
• Partner with operations and project management teams to enhance job costing accuracy and budget monitoring.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and internal control enhancements across accounting functions.
• Support cash flow management and help ensure proper allocation of resources across multiple entities and projects.
• Contribute to special projects and reporting initiatives as the company continues to scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience in construction, contracting, or project‑based accounting environments preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes.
• Demonstrated experience with acquisition or multi‑entity integration a plus.
• Proficiency with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Vista, Deltek, Sage, or similar).
• Strong Excel and reporting skills; comfortable with financial dashboards and data analysis tools.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross‑functionally.
• Hands‑on, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment.
