NOW CFO is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager Consultant to support clients across the Portland market. You will manage full‑cycle accounting, lead closes, and deliver GAAP‑compliant reporting for multiple client environments.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of progressive accounting experience and strong leadership, Excel, and systems skills, with willingness to travel in the Portland metro area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Five+ years progressive accounting experience.
• Leadership experience as Accounting Manager or similar.
• Strong full‑cycle accounting and month‑end close.
• Solid GAAP and financial reporting knowledge.
• Experience across multiple industries.
• Advanced Excel and systems adaptability.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Willingness to travel to client locations in Portland area.

Responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting operations (AP/AR/GL, billing, payroll support, revenue recognition).
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries.
• Ensure GAAP‑compliant financial reporting.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, variance analysis.
• Partner with CFOs, Controllers, and business owners.
• Improve internal controls and reporting processes.
• Assist with audits, tax prep, and external reporting.
• Travel to client locations throughout Portland metro and surrounding areas.

NOW CFO is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Accounting Manager Consultant to support clients throughout the Portland, Oregon market.

This role is ideal for a well‑rounded accounting professional who enjoys variety, client interaction, and solving complex accounting challenges. You will work across multiple businesses and industries, helping strengthen accounting operations, improve financial reporting, and support leadership teams with accurate financial information.

Unlike a traditional Accounting Manager role tied to one company, this position offers exposure to a range of client environments, systems, and business models.

Candidates must be located in or willing to commute throughout the Portland metro area and surrounding markets, including Vancouver, Salem, and nearby communities.

What You’ll Do

• Manage full‑cycle accounting operations, including AP, AR, General Ledger, billing, payroll support, and revenue recognition
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes
• Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules
• Ensure financial reporting follows GAAP and accounting best practices
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and variance analysis
• Partner directly with CFOs, Controllers, CEOs, and business owners
• Improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and reporting processes
• Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
• Assist with audits, tax preparation, and external reporting
• Support Controller‑level responsibilities as needed
• Manage multiple client engagements and competing priorities

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• Five or more years of progressive accounting experience
• Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or similar leadership experience
• Strong full‑cycle accounting and month‑end close experience
• Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience across multiple industries or business models preferred
• Familiarity with systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms
• Advanced Excel skills and strong systems adaptability
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving abilities
• Comfortable working directly with executive leadership and business owners
• Willingness to travel to client locations throughout Portland, Vancouver, Salem, and surrounding areas
