Job summary

Benchmark Search is helping a growing commercial general contractor find an Accounting Manager to lead the accounting team in Plano, TX. The role focuses on month-end close, revenue recognition, project accounting, and internal controls.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years in accounting with leadership experience, and strong GAAP knowledge. Knowledge of WIP and construction accounting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Leadership or team oversight experience.
• Commercial construction accounting experience.
• Strong month-end close and general ledger experience.
• Experience with WIP, project billing, and revenue recognition.
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP.
• Strong organization, communication, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close and financial statement preparation
• Oversee general ledger activity and balance sheet reconciliations
• Manage AP and AR processes and resolve outstanding issues
• Oversee project billing and supporting documentation
• Prepare monthly WIP schedules and over/under billing analysis
• Support revenue recognition and project accounting
• Manage fixed asset activity and depreciation
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Oversee banking activity and reconciliations
• Support sales tax reporting and compliance
• Coordinate year-end audit and tax requests
• Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Provide backup and support across AP, AR, and payroll
• Partner with project and operational teams on accounting matters
