Job summary

The North American Coal Corporation is seeking a Senior Accountant/Finance Manager to ensure GAAP-compliant financial statements and oversee accounting functions. You will prepare journal entries, manage audits, and lead cash forecasting and budgeting efforts.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, maintaining GAAP compliance, communicating with management and customers, and staying current with GAAP pronouncements and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or financial planning.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience leading accounting or financial teams is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements with accuracy.
• Manage audits (internal, external, federal, and state) and related workpapers.
• Oversee cash forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financing projections.
• Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff.
• Ensure compliance with MSHA safety and environmental regulations as applicable to finance.
• Communicate financial positions to management and customers.

Employee Type: Regular This position is responsible for ensuring all financial statement accurately present the financial position of the company to management and customers. Related journal entries, audit workpapers, payments, cash forecasts and budgets will be prepared consistently following generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) at all times.

This position includes decisions and/or recommendations regarding personnel actions and employee development.

Job Description

Essential Duties

• Fairly state financial statements with no deviations from GAAP
• Responsible for all audits, including but not limited to Internal, external, federal and state
• Remain current with GAAP pronouncements
• Supervise, lead, train, and develop personnel
• Communicate with internal and external customers and process requested information
• Responsible for long- and short-term cash and financing projections, and related budgets
• Responsible for calculating mine closing financial entries and forecasts
• Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and state and federal environmental regulations

• Strong knowledge of current GAAP requirements
• Strong knowledge and experience with audit procedures
• Self-motivated with good time-management and organizational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products - especially Excel, Outlook, and Word
• Experience with successfully directing and supervising others

Education and Training

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required
