Job Summary

We are seeking a senior accountant at our central mining office near Brookwood, Alabama. This role requires upholding the Warrior Way—Safer, Accountability, Follow Through, Excellence, Responsibility—and ensuring professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of the month‑end close process, including journal entries, allocations, variance analysis, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Record mine costs and maintain supplemental mine cost schedules.
  • Account for company‑wide trade receivables and revenue transactions.
  • Maintain communication with customers and support the treasury team with cash forecast updates.
  • Act as the accounting liaison between sales and finance teams; review and implement sales contracts.
  • Record, maintain, and report coal inventory values.
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit and respond to internal and external auditors.
  • Maintain supporting documentation to satisfy Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance guidelines.
  • Communicate with co‑workers, management, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in mining, construction, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting and operational accounting practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems; Workday ERP experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
