Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
• Minimum 5+ years progressive accounting experience.
• Solid GAAP knowledge and general ledger accounting.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills.
• Experience supervising staff is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support month-end close activities.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts payable, and cash activity.
• Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, audit preparation, and compliance requirements.
• Monitor balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy.
• Partner with internal stakeholders on accounting processes and special projects.
• Support process improvements, system enhancements, and reporting initiatives.
• Work closely with leadership to ensure timely and accurate financial information.

Beacon Hill is partnering with a well-established NYC nonprofit organization to hire an Accounting Manager on a contract-to-hire basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative finance team and play a key role in the organization's day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support month-end and year-end close activities
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts payable, and cash activity
• Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, audit preparation, and compliance requirements
• Monitor balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure accuracy
• Partner with internal stakeholders on accounting processes and special projects
• Support process improvements, system enhancements, and reporting initiatives
• Work closely with leadership to ensure timely and accurate financial information

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Prior supervisory experience is a plus but not required

Preferred Qualifications

• Nonprofit accounting experience
• Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge or a similar accounting system
• Experience supporting audits and financial reporting
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
