Job summary

New Hampshire Housing is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the accounting operations behind our loan, investment, and real estate portfolios. You will oversee banking and cash management, drive process improvements, and partner with stakeholders to provide reliable financial information to support decisions.

The role requires strong accounting knowledge, GASB expertise, and the ability to coach a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• Strong accounting knowledge including financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of GASB principles and accounting best practices.
• Demonstrated success leading, coaching, and developing teams.
• Experience leveraging financial systems to support operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.
• Master's degree in Accounting/Finance and at least three years of relevant experience.

We’re hiring a full-time Accounting Manager for our Finance & Accounting Division.

As an Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing key functions that contribute to our mission. In this role, you will:

• Lead the accounting operations behind our loan, investment, and real estate portfolios, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong regulatory compliance.
• Oversee banking and cash management activities, maintaining the integrity and security of financial transactions.
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives that enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and support organizational growth.
• Partner with stakeholders across the organization to deliver reliable financial information and support key business decisions.
• Develop, coach, and inspire a talented accounting team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on continuous improvement.

To support onboarding and training, the initial weeks of employment will be conducted in-office. Following this period, remote work may be available on an intermittent basis, as determined by the manager.

Your experience, skills, and education should include:

• Strong accounting knowledge and experience, including financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) principles and accounting best practices.
• Demonstrated success leading and developing teams through coaching, performance management, and employee development.
• Experience leveraging financial and accounting systems to support efficient and accurate operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate in English.
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field and at least three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
